R081 exam success. How to pass your R081 exam
The R081 exam is a mandatory part of the OCR Creative iMedia course. It’s important to do well in the exam as it will count for a quarter (or half!) of your overall grade.
In this post I’m going to give you a few tips and pointers on how to prepare for your R081 exam so that you pass.
Preparation is key!
Don’t leave it till the last minute to revise. Plan your revision carefully so you don’t have to cram at the last minute. Little and often is the best way to go. Learning a few key words here, and a few explanations there, every week and making sure that you still remember the week after will set you up to getting better marks.
A revision timetable or a set day of when you will revise is vital.
Take a look at past exam questions
As part of your study, your teacher should be providing you with past papers and OCR exam practice questions. They should also be going through the examiners mark schemes for these.
Seeing what types of questions have been asked on previous exams, is a great way to get you into the examiners head so you know what they are asking for when it comes to your exam. Sometimes what you think they are asking and what they are actually asking are not the same!
Pay close attention to where the marks are coming from in past papers. By not putting in 1 simple word, you could be losing a mark – and at only 60 marks per exam paper, every mark counts!
Make sure you have the resources
Make sure you have all the resources that you need to revise. If you have access to a computer then you could simply use the R081section of this site as revision. Test yourself with the flash cards – https://studyimedia.co.uk/r081/r081-flash-cards/ or test yourself with the quizzes – https://studyimedia.co.uk/r081-quizzes/
If you want to brush up on a specific part of R081 you could even go through our free courses which will teach you the theory behind R081 – https://studyimedia.co.uk/courses-page/
