Website update 8/9/2021

Welcome to another website update blog. In todays update I want to discuss what has been going on with the site in the background.

After talking in the last blog about having found the right LMS for the site, I’ve actually gone and changed this for another one. The reasons for this were numerous, and included the difference between the types of questions available to ask in quizzes between the 2 LMS systems, and also when we look to upgrade to the Pro version, how that will translate in terms of economy across the multiple sites that we operate.

Multiple sites? Yes! As part of the updates we’ve now put a banner to the parent website www.sharkpen.co.uk If you weren’t aware, we actually create content across a number of sites, each with their own brand and unique content. As a number of our sites are based around education any LMS that we use will be used on our other sites as well to stream line processes.

So we’ve ported the content across to the LMS that we are now going to be using and have also been creating more courses for the R081 syllabus. What we have at the moment is the bare bones of the R081 syllabus, with lots of useful content so that if you wanted to learn about any of R081 you could go on right now and get the information that you needed. However, there are a few gaps that we need to work on to make the online learning experience a lot better. In some of the courses like mood boards or mindmaps etc, you will notice that there are questions throughout the course while on some of the later courses there is just information.

To make the courses better we will be going through and putting in some of these questions to ensure that learning is occurring throughout and students aren’t simply pressing next to get to the end. I’d also like to add a few videos / animation into the courses as well to give them a more rounded feel.

I’ve also added in 2 more quizzes in R081 which anyone is able to access without signing up for the courses.

On the design front I’ve also added in our footer with links to our social pages, our donate button and to our newsletter. If you want to support what we do or find out the latest news this is the place to be looking and getting subscribed.

So lots of new content with more being added this week – keep your eyes peeled!
